Most of the world has been left in the dark during the digital revolution. The digital divide is a new literacy manifest of the 21st century. The population of the world is nearly 7 billion people with only 2 billon that are digitally included. These statistics mean that 70 % of the world, close to 5 billion people do not have access to a computer or the internet. In Illinois alone, 70% of household earning less than $15,000 per year do not own a computer while only 17% of all households have broadband. This divide is a gap between individuals that have access to information from those that do not. Individuals who are technologically excluded will be less informed, less inspired, and less responsible to the world. Internet is now a “right” because it is a basic social necessity to be competitive in the 21st century work force. We intend to bridge this gap by impacting the buildout of infrastructure, networks that aid in the exchange of information and the creation of content.
We seek to Bridge the Gaps in those communities where the divide is great, resources are scarce and apathy has set in. BTG builds strategic alliances with local Educational Institutions, Small businesses and Non Profit organizations to begin the transformation of these communities and they will rise again Born Digital.
